Constructability & Construction Engineering

Practical Engineering for the Construction Process

Construction creates engineering challenges that do not always exist in the completed structure. Temporary loads, changing load paths, incomplete structures, restricted access, excavation and temporary support requirements, equipment limitations, sequencing, and existing conditions can all affect how the work must be performed. Solving those problems takes more than a technically correct calculation. The solution also has to make sense in the field.

Gregori Consulting combines sound engineering principles with decades of heavy civil construction experience to develop practical solutions for temporary works, support systems, access, sequencing, and other unusual construction conditions. We work with contractors, field personnel, designers, and Professional Engineers to evaluate alternatives and develop approaches that are safe, efficient, and realistic to build. Our objective is simple: engineering that works not only on paper, but on the jobsite.

Engineering the Construction Process

Permanent structures are typically evaluated for the conditions they will experience in service. Construction introduces an entirely different set of temporary and intermediate conditions—structures that are only partially complete, loads that shift as work progresses, excavation support that changes by stage, equipment operating near structural limits, and access or sequencing constraints that may determine what is practical.

These conditions often require their own engineering analysis. A solution may be structurally adequate and still be difficult, inefficient, or impractical to construct.

That is where constructability and construction engineering come together: understanding both the engineering requirements and the realities of the construction process, then developing a solution that satisfies both.

Engineering Informed by the Field

Some of the best construction solutions begin with the people closest to the work. Superintendents, foremen, operators, carpenters, pile-driving crews, and project managers often recognize practical possibilities that are not obvious from a drawing or calculation alone. Their experience with equipment, access, sequencing, materials, tolerances, and site conditions is an important part of developing a workable solution.

We bring engineering analysis to those field-developed ideas — evaluating loads, support conditions, failure modes, constructability, and safety — then refining the concept into a practical approach that can be confidently implemented.
